Dollar Ceramics Makeover

I am loving this repainted ceramics idea which can be found at Dollar Store Crafts. While I would have chosen black over bright orangish red, I'm holding out hope that I too can find some old busts on my next trip. If not maybe some ballerinas or something for Am's room.

Glittering Lightscape

Last year I made some sheets with 12-16 trivia questions about Amelie. Whoever got the most correct won. Seeing as how the few gift items are mostly child-oriented I thought I'd go ahead and throw together a prize for the adults as well. This Glittering Lightscape from Apartment Therapy would be it.

Bleach Stencil Placemats

Even though we don't use them around the house, I am in love with Poopscape Project's Bleach Stencil Placemats. Perhaps we'll have to start a new dining habit.

Fuzzy Monster Doorstops

I'd like to include a fun any-age item with our goodie bags. I'm hoping to throw together a few of these Fuzzy Monster Doorstops from Craftster if I can find the time. Aren't they cute?!

I had a post all set to go today but apparently it deleted itself. So now you can check out Martha's funky Paper Cup Liners tip instead. Here's to a more organized new year for all of us.

Kokeshi Doll Ornaments

One of these days I'm going to make it out shopping again. When I do I'm hoping to pick up some wooden clothespins to make Zakka Life's Kokeshi Doll Ornaments. Fun and traditional at the same time, gotta love 'em!

For those of you out there with printers, The Long Thread posted these simplistic Joy Cone Printables. I don't know about you guys but I'm gonna go rummage for some card stock now.

Recycled Peppermint Ornament

Today I'll be spotlighting something I made. This is what happens when a budget minded (cheap) Christmas-lover gets bored:

You will need a red permanent marker, 1 used CD, scissors, ribbon (not red, trust me on this), and your adhesive of choice.

I did this all freehand and used google for help with the pattern. You just draw the outline on the CD first using your permanent marker. Fill in the bigger peppermint chunks then add any details (like the lines between the chunks). I tied up a bow with some of that decorative tinsel garland from the dollar store then hot glued it on. Once that dried I cut off a bit of my white papery ribbon and glued that to the back. And there you have it, your very own Recycled Peppermint Ornament.

Variation: Instead of making a ribbon to glue on the top, get some clear cellophane & wrap the finished CD, tying off both ends for a more authentic candy look.

I am loving this Baby Sock Advent Calendar from She-who-must-not-be-named. It's so simple to make- another perfect item for all of you toddler/baby mums out there!
