Free Online Books

Perhaps some of you have recently had the same predicament as me- sick with a cold and a throat too sore to read with. For those of you nodding your heads, you really aught to check out Se7en's Free Online Book and Podcast list. We're working on the Wizard of Oz right now, without me having to say a single line out loud. Yes, I am thankful.

(Psst, don't forget to click the Living Books for the Ears link. They're pretty fun in an "olden days" sorta way.)

This was interesting! I went to one of the sites suggested and almost downloaded a book! Decided against it because I don't know if I can get into an audio book or not.

I like to use them for long car rides, on airplanes, and while I'm doing busy work like stitching plastic canvas. They make a good background for me.

I will admit I don't usually just sit and listen without something else to do.

I would like to add that I grew up with books on tape. If any of you have school-aged children who get scared at bedtime these might help. When I was in grade school I had night terrors. Listening to audio books was the only way I could fall asleep. If I had a way to listen to them I'd probably still be falling asleep with them now. (Come on, who doesn't love being told a story at bedtime? It's a comfort thing.)
